3 Things That Keep Me Writing

We've all had those days when the last thing we want to do in the world is write. Where characters misbehave and you've had a writers' block for the last week and you have that huge gaping plot hole that you have absolutely no idea how to fix and then you go check your blogger feed and everyone is posting on how they wrote 20k words in a day and how everything is going really well and you just want to chuck your computer out of the window.

Well, first of all, please don't throw your poor computer #computerlivesmatter

And second of all, we all have those days

TRUST ME

But there are usually some things that always keep us writing even when we vow to never write again. Here are 3 things that keep me writing.

1. My Characters

Even though I put my characters through a lot of trauma, I still really love them. And like, they are one of the major things that make me return to my stories time and time again. Characters are basically our children! Who am I kidding, they are! We created these people. Came up with their looks, their personalities, their dreams, their fears.

And it's no wonder we get attached to our characters. First, we created them, and then we spend a LOT of time with them.

2. My Imagination

HONESTLY

MY MIND WON'T LET ME STOP WRITING

Every single book I read, every movie I watch, they all cause a million little ideas to come to life in my head. I couldn't stop writing even if I tried.

That's one of the most beautiful things I find about being a writer: Having an imagination that can come up with whole worlds! Whole histories, lives, people. And then filling in thousands of little details.

3. My Desire To See How The Story Ends

Okay, yeah.

We might have weirdly detailed outlines but that doesn't mean writers know EXACTLY how the story is going to end. They might have a pretty good idea, but ask any author and my guess is that they'll tell you that they didn't expect their story to end the way it did.

So yeah! Those are 3 things that bring me back to my writing. What about you? What are some things that get you to write again even when you never want to look at your WIPS ever in existence?

Dear Senior Year. . . {Part I}

Dear Senior Year,

Well, we're finally here.

Senior year.

It was quite a journey to get here, wasn't it? And yet, I'm just embarking on the trip that this year is going to be.

I can still remember my first day as a high school student. Looking up to those seniors, wondering how they got to be so cool and knowledgeable. How they seemed to have everything figured out.

And now that's me?

Do freshman really see the fact that I'm a senior and think, "Wow, she's cool. She's smart. She has everything figured out"?

That's hilarious.

If anything, I have nothing figured out. I know a few things that I want, but there are so many things that are hidden into shadows.

I'm scared.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, but I'm scared out of my mind.

I'm scared that I won't get accepted into my dream school.

That if I do get accepted, that I won't be able to pay for it.

That this year's schoolwork will be too hard for me and that I'll flunk.

So many doubts fill my head.

What if you get rejected?

You know those college auditions. . .what if you butcher them?

And I just want to scream and get them out of my head.

I tell myself that if I apply myself, I'll be able to overcome those fears and doubts.

And I smile.

Dear Senior Year. . .

Here I come.

Love,

Ceci

6 of my favorite soundtracks

Something that I think is really underrated is movie soundtracks. I know that there are people who really enjoy movie soundtracks, but I still don't think that they get enough love. You take away the soundtrack from the movie and it changes the whole thing.

So I'm here today to give some love to 6 of my favorite soundtracks. While I will only link one song from each soundtrack, I still love the whole thing.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of my all-time favorite movies. The music is genius and the opening song conveys so much. From the majesty of Notre Dame to Clopin telling a simple tale with puppets. A wonderful movie and an amazing soundtrack.

The Book Thief

I can honestly say, without any doubt, that The Book Thief IS my favorite movie. Something that adds so much beauty to this already beautiful story is the music. I don't think that John Williams gets enough love for this particular soundtrack. Each track matches the scene perfectly and gives it even more depth.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

(I couldn't find any of the tracks on YouTube, but the soundtrack is on Spotify so I would definitely give it a listen!)

I love the book so much, and y'all, I know I've basically said the same thing for each one, but this soundtrack fits the movie PERFECTLY.

Poldark

I love this soundtrack to death. The almost gritty sounds blend perfectly with the rough Cornish scenery. Just hearing the different tracks sweeps you into the story. Whether you're at Wheal Leisure or going to confront a bunch of angry miners, this soundtrack is amazingly suited to the show. Just listening to it makes me want to go and rewatch it!!

Victoria

Just the first strains of the main theme give you chills. The track I linked above always makes me feel like I'm flying. Every piece in this amazing soundtrack adds tension along with the dialogue or makes your heart skip a beat as you squeal over your favorite ship.

The Crown

The Crown is a rather heavy show. Most of the colors are slightly muted, and it deals seriously with the different events in the early reign of Elizabeth II. The soundtrack matches that tone to a t. No sparkling pieces, but rather dark tracks with a hint of an electronic sound to add some more tension.

What are some of your favorite soundtracks? Are any that I named one of your favorites? Give me some recommendations! Also, look forward to an extra post this Monday!

Ask the nominees 11 new questions.

Questions:

1.) Favorite time period?

Ooof, I love so many time periods that this is a really hard question lol. But honestly, if I had to pick any time period to live in (which I guess can be translated to my favorite time period since I would live in it hehe) it would be the 1950's. I mean, the CLOTHES. People were still RESPECTFUL. And come on -- SWING DANCING AM I RIGHT???

So yeah. I love the 50s :P

2.) What fictional character (from either book or television) would you want to be?

Oooh, another tough one. But I would really love to be either Liesel Meminger from The Book Thief or Juliet Ashton from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

3.) What three wishes would you ask the Genie from Aladdin?

 - to have the ability to actually finish my WIPS
 - to be able to have whatever book I wanted to have
 - to go to college for free

4.) Would you rather raid the Galaxy with Han Solo or dig up relics with Indiana Jones?

Raid the Galaxy with Han Solo OBVIOUSLY :PP

5.) What frightens you the most?

I think what frightens me the most is that I (or anyone that I love) could die in a state of mortal sin and never be able to go to heaven.

6.) Do you collect anything?

I do! I've collected every single letter (just about) that anyone has sent me for the last 7ish years.

I also collect wristbands and then wear them

I also collect books (but don't we all......)

And I've just started to collect pins/buttons for my violin case.

7.) Do you like the supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc.)? If so, what are your favorites?

Ummm.......not really........

8.) What is the first song you remember hearing?

..............................

TO BE HONEST

I think it was this song in Spanish that my dad used to play for me that had my name in it.

I also grew up listening to classical music, Andrea Boccelli, and Frank Sinatra so I really don't know.

9.) What's the most amount of books you've read?

..............like

In a month?

A year?

MY LIFE???

:P

I'm just gonna let y'all know the most amount of books I've read in a month THIS year.

And that would be July in which I read 21 books.

10.) Who's your favorite and least favorite celebrity?

My favorite celebrity would probably be NF 'cause he's amazing and his music is AMAZING.

My least favorite celebrity would have to be (gosh there are so many) but probably Bella Thorne.

11.) What is your favorite candy or dessert? (you can answer both)

Favorite dessert is this chocolate coffee cake.

And now for the 11 new questions

1.) What has been the best book you've read this year (as of yet)?

2.) Favorite summer memory?

3.) Pineapple on Pizza: Aye or Nay?

4.) Your song on repeat?

5.) A moment in your life that has greatly impacted you?

6.) How did you get into blogging?

7.) Who is someone that inspires you (real or fictional)?

8.) Something that always makes you smile?

9.) Least favorite ice cream flavor?

10.) That one song that you always start jamming to?

11.) Favorite book crush?

And I nominate. . .
