13 Reasons Why. . . I am/am not a stereotypical homeschooler

Sorry if that title threw you into a loop :P

So I know a lot of people throw all homeschoolers into the same category, they stereotype us. So these are

AM

1. I don't have social media

But is that a bad thing?? I mean, it's not like I'm going to DIE because I'm not on Instagram

2. I love writing

How is this a stereotypical homeschooler thing? Well, all my homeschool friends write and kids that go to school always give me that "Aaah! It's because you're a HOMESCHOOLER" when I tell them I love writing.

3. I love reading

Yeah, I know that there are school-kids that love to read, but, c'mon, you put in "Stereotypical homeschooler" and you get "loves to read"

4. I've read all of Jane Austen's novels

In less than a month :P I haven't met a school-kid that has read all of them.

5. I've read LotR and listened to The Hobbit

OKAY. GIVEN. I JUST READ THEM. But at music camp I asked my friends there if they had read them and they were like, "Nooo...." I EVEN HAD A HOMESCHOOL FRIEND TELL ME THAT I WAS BREAKING A HOMESCHOOL STEREOTYPE BY NOT READING THEM.

6. I have a blog

Have you noticed that almost all (not all, but ALMOST all) of the bloggers here are homeschoolers/homeschool grads. Uh-huh, y'all can put the pieces together

7. I've seen all of the extended LotR movies

Who would spend all that time watching all of the LotR extended movies except a homeschooler who has read all the book (and then give out snarky comments and cry at all the right parts)?

8. I do school in my pj's sometimes

      I've been caught....

9. I believe in God

So I know that not all homeschoolers are Christian's, but a good part peoples.

10. I play some type of musical instrument

My violin teacher was homeschooled, her mom teaches my siblings, and like half of her students are homeschooled.

11. If you play a composer I know well (e.g. Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi) without telling me who it is, I can most likely (90%) tell you who it is

We listen to a lot of classical music!

12. I wear a mantilla

So I know that this is more for Roman Catholic Homeschoolers, but yeah, a lot of Catholic homeschoolers (not all, a lot of my homeschool friends don't veil) wear mantillas.

13. I've read the Chronicles of Narnia multiple times

The Chronicles of Narnia is like the Lord of the Rings for younger kids. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THEM YOU'RE NOT A TRUE HOMESCHOOLER.

AM NOT

1. I actually have friends that are not my siblings

WHAT?? NO ONE TOLD ME THAT HOMESCHOOLERS HAVE REAL FRIENDS. Yeah, no. I have a lot of friends.

2. I have friends/come in close contact with "school-kids"

AND I'M STILL ALIVE. Yeah, I'm the only homeschooler in my orchestra, and then there's swim team, and dance. So I actually have seen a real "school-kid".

3. I listen to pop music

I've been listening to it for about a year, BUT HEY.

4. I KNOW WHO TAYLOR SWIFT IS

And not just Taylor Swift, BUT OTHER FAMOUS PEOPLES ALSO.

5. I actually leave my house a lot

Yeah, that thing about homeschoolers never leaving their house, listen to this: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday we have to drive about 15 minutes to get to dance. Wednesday we drive 15 minutes to get to music and then later we drive about 25 minutes to get to orchestra. And then don't forget the Friday's we drive 40 minutes to get to organ. Right, I NEVER leave my house.

6. I have trouble with school sometimes

Yeah, not all homeschoolers breeze through school. Sure, 8 out of 10 I get A's, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH IT

7. I have electronic devices

Yep, the laptop I'm writing this on right now and the iPod I share with my brother (fuuun....)

8. I actually can talk to other people

     YEAH

A friend and I had like a 2 hour discussion on the Civil War. Go figure

9. I watch television

Uh-Huh, NOT ALL HOMESCHOOLERS ARE BANNED FROM THE SCREEN

10. I don't live in a hut in the middle of the woods

Yeah, last time I checked, I lived in a pretty big neighborhood

11. I don't spend all my time studying

That's right. I read, watch TV, write, do violin, go to dance.

12. I'm not anti-social

Like I said before, I have a lot of friends, both homeschooled and non-homeschooled

13. I don't condemn people for not being a homeschooler

It seems like a lot of people think that homeschoolers find out that someone isn't homeschooled and goes, "OH MY GOSH??!?!?!??!?! ARE YOU STUPID???"

And, y'all, a lot of this was sarcasm.

13 Reasons Why . . . You Should Watch Violetta

Violetta is one of my favorite shows of all time (I will tell you that it is in Spanish). I won't explain the plot in this post (maybe in another one I will) because I want you to go watch it. It's really good (just please don't watch the English dub, watch it in Spanish with subtitles).
It also has 3 seasons with 80 episodes in each season and each episode being like 45 minutes long (it took me almost six months to finish watching it all, but I did take a big break at one point), so it should last you a while. But not many people have seen it.
     So, here are

13 Reasons Why You Should Watch Violetta

1) It is very entertaining
It really gets you hooked. You just want to see what is going to happen next. And, at the end of each episode, it has sorta like something that tells you what is going to happen in the next episode. Here's an example (it probably won't make sense to you guys since you don't know what happened before):

2) The actors are very talented
About 95% of the acting is really good, and they all dance wonderfully and have amazing voices.

3. The songs are really good
They are. And they are catchy. This is one of the songs that the boy band sings. It's called Mi Princesa:

They even have some in English. Like this one called Underneath It All:

(More posts on this later)

4) It gets better as it goes on
Okay, I will admit, that in the beginning, it's sorta meh. But, the acting gets A TON better by the time you finish the series.

5) It teaches the consequences of lying
As cheesy as it sounds, it does. It shows you that you can't lie and get away with it.

6) It shows that you have to live up to your actions
The main character, Violetta, lies every now and then (and there is a fairly good reason for her doing it, she doesn't lie for no reason). But when she is discovered, she always lives up to her actions. She doesn't try to shirk from the consequences.

7) It shows forgiveness
Every time that someone messes up (like Violetta), they are forgiven. Because they are truly sorry.  And that really does happen in real life. After people see that you really are sorry, they do forgive you.

8) It shows that you can complete your dreams if you work hard
Which also happens in real life. The characters work really hard to become professional singers.

9) The cast isn't entirely bad looking

C'mon. They are pretty good looking. Especially Leon. <3

10) It has romance that isn't baby-like but not too mature
Violetta and Leon date throughout the series (with a few breakups) but there are other couples. And Violetta and Leon together make a perfect pair.
Am I right, or am I right?

11) It's funny
Especially Andres, who - let's just say - isn't exactly known for his brains xD

12) There is good character development
The characters really grow and develop as the series goes on. And it's really noticeable. (More posts on this later)

13) You get really attached to the characters.
You really do! They really grow on you.

Now that I've finally found a place to let out all my pent in fangirling, PLEASE GO WATCH IT. You won't regret it! And, if you have seen it, do you agree with my points? Disagree? thought of any more?

13 Reasons Why . . . You Should Read When Calls the Heart

This is literally one of my favorite books. The TV series is pretty popular, but I don't think quite enough attention goes to the book itself. So, without further ado, here are

13 Reasons Why You Should Read When Calls the Heart

Image result for when calls the heart books

     1) Wynn and Elizabeth
Their relationship progress very well towards the end of the book. (*SPOILER COMING UP*) I just wish that Elizabeth had found out the Lydia wasn't Wynn's wife a little earlier. Or that there was a bit more after the train scene.

    2)  The mounties
Image result for mounties

      Need I say more?

  3) WYNN
Basically the same reason for the mounties. But, there's just something about WYNN that makes you - ugh, it's hard to explain. You kinda need to read the book to understand it. Wynn is just so strong, tall, . . . handsome . . . If I were to say one reason for reading this book, I would say: WYNN.

Now go read the book. Just kidding, finish reading this first.

  4) It's really good historical fiction
Janette Oke just transports you back in time. And you can just picture everything in your mind! But more on this later . . .

    5) Elizabeth's progress
At the beginning of the book, she's a city girl. But by the end, she can do A LOT more on her own. True, she hasn't got it all down, but there is noticeable progress

   6) Else and Lars
They're just so cute! Else is just a dear, and Lars - Lars is just perfect.

  7) It has religion very well integrated into it
Elizabeth prays a lot, and there's also a lesson about guilty consciences (*thinks about ankles and what I just said*) (*starts laughing*) IT'S AN INSIDE JOKE. YOU'LL GET IT ONCE YOU READ THE BOOK.

   8) It's VERY well written
As I was saying before, Oke just transports you back into those times. You can see Wynn in his red serge jacket (*sighs dreamily*). Elizabeth almost burning down the schoolhouse (*chokes on laughter*) And how the residents of Pine Springs  (I almost wrote Pine Valley, WRONG WCTH)

  9) Kathleen
Sorta the same with Else, you just want to SQUEEZE her to death.

 10) The Box Social Scene
Just to see what Elizabeth's thinking while Wynn is bidding for her box is priceless (this makes a lot more sense when you read the book)

  11) The Bear Scene
BECAUSE IT'S WHERE THEY . . .  I WON'T SPOIL IT FOR YOU AS MUCH AS IT KILLS ME

  12) The Scene Where Elizabeth Leaves
I CAN'T SAY WHY EITHER (I'm just going to spoil a small part, she doesn't actually leave BUT I WON'T SAY WHY!!!)

 13) Elizabeth's fight with the mice
It's just funny watching her try and get rid of the mice XD

Now that I gave you 13 Reasons Why You Should Read When Calls the Heart, go read it! Once you do, tell me what you think of it! And those who have read it, tell me if you agree with my reasons or if I should add/change some.

(I also realize that the indention is all over the place, so please forgive me for this :P)
