Short Stories #3: Fall Sickness

Here is the third story!

I've lived in this town my whole life, and most of the time that's fine by me. But in late fall when the sky fills with birds migrating south for the winter, traveling thousands of miles, I get homesick for places I've never been. Places like (prompt ends here) Florida or Georgia. They say it's very colorful there. That's what our town needs, color.

All you see is the same dull brown when you look out onto the prairie. When Grandma was alive, she would try to grow flowers.

I never really cared about the missing colors until fall. Then the longing starts. It's so strong that I'm sick all fall. People say it's consumption, but I know better. Because, when winter comes, I get better.

I always try suggesting a place to go to Mom. But she always busies her shaking hands and says, "I don't know Carrie, maybe when your father comes home. Yes, when he comes home we'll be able to do more things. He always said -"

She'd  continue comforting herself by retelling all her memories of him. The truth is that my dad is in prison. He got in prison because his boss cheated him with his salary. Dad is an honest man that can't bear it when another human being cheats. So fists flew and you know what happens next.

One day, after being refused again by my mother, someone knocked on the door. I opened the door coughing violently.

     "Carrie?" a deep voice says.

     It's my dad.

"Dad?" I say, "How did you get out?"

"We proved that my boss was guilty."

     I cough again.

"Is it the fall sickness again?" he asks.

     I nod.

"Where could we go to make it better?" he asks. I smile.

      "Florida," I whisper.

Short Stories #2: Trek to Stardom

First off, I want to wish all the mothers out there a wonderful mothers day. As to the story, this one's kinda silly.....but here goes nothing!

Prompt #2: Trek to Stardom

Perhaps it was only a dream, she thought. Perhaps of she pinched herself, she would wake up. But she didn't want to wake up. She wanted to stay in this dream world where (here is where the prompt ends) there were no screaming roosters at odd hours.
But if this was a dream, Lacey wanted it to be over with so she wouldn't be disappointed when she went back to reality. Lacey closed her eyes and pinched herself -- hard.
She opened her eyes and she was still standing in front of the recording studio, where she would be recording her first song.
She still couldn't believe she won the contest that allowed her to record her first song. And if the public liked it, she would most likely become very famous.
Lacey took a deep breath, picked up her guitar, and walked into the studio. In the hallway, she almost collided with Vanessa Madison.
"Hey," she said, "You're Lacey Jacobs? I heard you're song. I actually came to hear you. I know how hard the first time is."
Lacey just nodded her head. Vanessa Madison was her favorite celebrity.
"Th-Thanks," Lacey replied, "And, you are my favorite celebrity. You're so beautiful and-and awesome."
"Aw," Vanessa said, "That's so sweet. Do you want to grab some lunch afterwards? I have a feeling that if everything goes well with your recording, we're going to be seeing a lot more of each other."
     Lacey nodded again.
When she entered the recording room, nervousness began building up inside her.
She looked at Vanessa's encouraging face and it all left her. It's nice having friends when you are all by yourelf.
 The End

Eek, Thoughts? Criticisms? Applause (just kidding XD)? Just let me knoow below! Thanks!

Short Stories; #1 The Miners Misfortune

So, a while ago, I bought this book at Barnes & Nobles,
Image result for Complete the story

I really like it. I've only done like, three, but it gives you very interesting prompts. And, I suppose, I could share them with you ;P. Here goes nothing! (I'm writing them in order so yeah...)

Prompt #1: The Miners Misfortune

At first, we thought the black liquid was oil, that we'd struck it rich and that we'd be able to retire and live in leisure. We actually started writing down all the ways we'd spend the money.
Our first choice was (this is the end of the prompt, the rest is my own writing) to feed and clothe our whole town. The rest were selfish things now that I think about it.
"We have to show the Keepers," Joe reminded us.
The only good thing about Rule #47 was that we got to keep whatever we found. I guess the Keepers established that rule thinking we'd never find anything of importance.
Stace pulled out a jar filled with Kiefler. He pours it out.
"Here," he said, handing it to Ray.
His hands shook so much that I was afraid he'll drop the jar. Ray got some of the black substance, and poured it into the jar.
We all walked towards the Keepers main building. Then, to the Findings Room.
     Professor McAll works there.
We tentatively walked over to him.
"Yes, Underlings?" he asked in a bored tone.
      We held out the jar.
"We think it's oil," Rays said, respectfully. Who knows what would happen to us if we angered  a Keeper.
"Oh, you do?" Professor McAll said, arching a sarcastic eyebrow.
He took the jar and poured the black liquid into a vial. Then, he placed it under a light.
Some papers are printed out. He read them and then chuckled.
"You poor idiots," he said, "This isn't oil, it's Type B virus."
     We all turned white.
"And," he continued, "As you know, you get to keep it all. You're already contaminated, so you can either infect your sorry little town or live a solitary life."
We all chose solitary life rather than infect our loved ones.
That is why I'm writing this to you, my dear Kacey.
                                                                   Love,
Marcus

So, what did you think? I edited it as I copied it from the book, so it's a bit better. Well, comment below and rate this post! 😀  (remember, Vader means bad; Lando, okay; and Luke, good)
