Let's Talk Spotify: Part 1 {Artists}

Hello! Me again. Yep, I have another post. AND I AM SOOOO EXCITED FOR THIS SERIES :D

So, I started listening to pop music mmmmmm about a year ago. THAT'S WHEN I GOT SPOTIFY

THAT APP IS AMAZING

NO JOKE

But, I know how hard it is to find pop music that is clean and doesn't make you go, "OH MY GOODNESS SHE DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!!?!? TELL ME SHE DIDN'T SAY THAT!! WHY WOULD ANYONE PUT THEMSELVES OUT THERE SINGING THAT?!??!?!?!"

So, anyways, I'll be rating some artists on a scale from 1 to 5 based on their "appropriateness".

(I'll be doing the same thing for albums and songs later)

Here's the rating scale:

1: 100% clean! You can definitely listen to this with younger siblings!

2: Still clean. You probably don't want smaller ears to hear this

3: Clean. Some references, but not many, and they don't present it in a blatant way

4: Not exactly clean, but not explicit. Listen at your own discretion

5: Explicit. Multiple cuss words, and just no

3. If there was to be a sequel(or even a third, fourth, or fifth part)(and then I don't mean like Frozen Fever and Tangled Ever After, those short movies, but a real one) of an animated movie, where would you like it to be about?

A MULAN 3.

But please Disney, get it right. Mulan 2 didn't hold a candle to the first one.

Okay, so I thought of a storyline and Imma going to share it.

So, in Mulan 2 Shang and Mulan got married, and now Mulan is going to have a baby. But Shang goes off to fight a war and goes missing. So Mulan has to go find him. So maybe the three princesses and their lovers go with her and the have adventures and whatnot. Meanwhile, Shang has lost his memory due to some sort of injury. And this widow and her daughter are taking care of him. All Shang can remember is his name and the name Mulan and her face. The widow's daughter falls in love with Shang, but Shang can't get Mulan's face out of his head. Finally, Mulan finds Shang and when he sees her, Shang gets all his memory back.

Tell me what y'all think of that :P

4. Which couple from an animated movie do you think is highly underrated?

Pocahontas and John Smith.

YES, I KNOW IT'S NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE BUT THE WHOLE MOVIE ISN'T HISTORICALLY ACTIVE.

Funny fact, as a kid, I used to think that the movie Pocahontas was true. So when we had to read about her for History, I was like, "WHERE'S GRANDMOTHER WILLOW???"

Mulan and Shang :P

(there's no way to win over a man's heart like beating him up while disguised as a guy then saving his life and then having him not kill you and then save the emperor and then have your grandmother invite him for more than dinner)

A friend of mine told me that it wasn't that good, so when it came on Netflix I procrastinated a couple weeks before watching it. It was really good though.

If it wasn't obvious, Mulan.

This is hard. Proooobably either Sing!, Zootopia, The Book of Life, or Coco (we just saw this today, I love it soo much :D)

Apparently, I'm 40% Pochahontas and 60% Merida.

The Good Dinosaur. It looked really cute from the preview but it was just meh.

Music Analysis: Light Your Heart

Can I first say how much I honestly love this song?

And probably more than that.

If you're wondering "What in the world is this thing you call 'music analysis'" let me explain.

So I was prodigiously cleaning out my closet one day (a three times a year task, it gets really messy) while listening to an audio drama of The Shadow of the Bear by Regina Doman, when I finished the audio drama. I was listening to it on FORMED, so I scrolled around instead of folding my shirts. Then I saw a podcast titled, Is God on Your iPod?
It looked interesting, so I put it on.

Wow, it was really good. The speaker there said that "good" music is music that sounds good, and conveys a good message.

So that, in a nutshell, is Music Analysis. I will pick out a random (not so random) song and see if it qualifies as a good song. I'm also doing this because some people (who go to the extreme) seem to think that if the music is classified as "pop" music, then it's 100% bad, which it isn't. There are plenty examples of wonder, uplifting, music that isn't Christian Contemporary.

Now, the song that we're going to look at is called Light Your Heart by Jorge Blanco. He sings it in a movie about Violetta. Very good movie (although they only have the English dub on Netflix 😑)

Anywhosies.

I got a pair of Bobs, they are sooooo comfortable. And that is totally not related :P

So, this post is going to be divided into two parts. The first part will be shorter, as we will simply assess if it sounds good or not. Then, I'm going to post the lyrics, occasionally saying something in between a verse, and then give my thoughts on it. Finally, we shall see the verdict.

Does it sound good?

Light Your Heart has a very good beat and tune. It's easily one of my favorite songs (a very rare thing, I'm VERY indecisive).

So, my thoughts on it.

In the movie, Jorge Blanco plays León, the "love interest". So obviously this song is for her. But let's look at it not within the context of the movie.

(this will probably be just a lot of rambling but bear with me)

The main message of this song (at least from my vantage) is faithfulness. The statement "I'll always be there for you" is repeated 8 times throughout the song. And then the rest of the lyrics give the impression of faithfulness also. Especially this verse:

No matter what tomorrow brings,

We got each other through everything

No matter what tomorrow brings,

We got each other we sing, sing, sing

In fact, if you think about it, this song is about an ideal relationship.

It speaks (or sings) about helping each other out, even when the other person feels down, always being there for each other, fighting for one another, and always being there, no matter if you're, "On top of the world or alone inside".

So, what do I rate this song overall? Well, the music is great, the message the lyrics convey even better, so, I will rate this

I heartily recommend this. This is an example of good pop music.

Movie Review: StarStruck

This is the first movie review I have ever done, so bear with me if it turns out like a total trainwreck. The way I'm thinking that I'm going to review movies is this: characters (and their growth), plot (pros and cons), content, quotes, and overall favorite character.

The movie I am going to ~~try to~~ review today is . . .

So, in my opinion, this is one of Disney's amazing movies that doesn't get enough attention. My siblings and I stumbled upon it one day when I was babysitting them, and we loved it.

In a nutshell, it's a feel good, light on the romance, typical Disney film. It has a lot of those "finding out who you truly are" moments that make Disney movies well known.

Now, I will warn you, that there will be spoilers. Lots of spoilers. But I will (try to) give you WARNING.

Finally, we can move onto the review.

CHARACTERS

Christopher Wilde: A lot of major character growth here. In the beginning, he is your "typical teenage celebrity". Meaning: He has a sort of a "warped sense of reality". He doesn't really get what "normal" people have to live through. Christopher thinks that everyone likes him, and is shocked when Jessica tells him that she's not "his fan". But as the movie progresses, you see that he doesn't want to disappoint anyone. And, at the very end *SPOILER ALERT* he gives up his movie deal for Jessica *END OF SPOILER* So yeah, he realizes that he has to make his own decisions because it's his life. As for his looks (yeah, that's important) HOLY COW. STERLING KNIGHT HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BLUE EYES EVER.

Jessica Olsen: Pretty much the opposite of Christopher. Just like he thinks he knows everything about "normal" people but he actually doesn't, Jessica thinks that she knows exactly how a celebrity life is, and Christopher shows her what it actually is. Not a ton of character growth, but still a lot. Plus, Danielle Campbell is GORGEOUS!!

Stubby: Apart from giving some heart felt advice and eating food, Stubby isn't in the movie that often.

Sara Olsen: She's Jessica's "Christopher Wilde's fanatic fangirl" sister. Even though she is a secondary character, she has more character growth than Jessica. *SPOILER ALERT* She goes from ignoring Jessica to really caring for her, well, sort of. *END OF SPOILER*

Jessica's Grandma: She's Mrs. Olsen's mom but I never figured out her name . . . But she comforted Jessica after CHRISTOPHER did something. I WILL NOT SPOIL IT.

Aaaaand, there are no pictures of her.

Harold: He kinda felt like he was the adorable teddy bear of the movie. And I could never figure out if he was Grandma's boyfriend or just a friend . . .

None of him also.

Mr. and Mrs. Olsen: They were good parents that worried about their children. And when they get back from their trip, they are genuinely worried about Jessica.

None of them.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilde: Now these peoples, like Christopher said, since they were his managers, they cared more about the celebrity part of him.

Gueesss whhaaaat!! None of them

Libby Lam: Soooo....she was just annoying in the beginning but she came around (sorta) at the end.

You can't see her face but she's the reporter standing in front of Jessica

Alan I-Forgot-His-Last-Name: If there was a 'villain' to this story, it would be Alan.

I don't even have to explain why there isn't one of him.

Alexis Bender: Christopher's shallow actress girlfriend. They don't really care for one another and *SPOILER ALERT* I find it pretty ridiculous that she goes to bash him about Jessica and then tells him that she has a date with Zac (and I'm thinking, "Zac Efron Zac???" *END OF SPOILER*

AJ: She's probably in the movie for only 10 minutes.She's mean and quite ugly. 'Nuff said.

And I think I've gotten all of the characters....

OKAY

MOVING ON

Here is the synopsis of the movie (so you sorta get what I'm saying later on :P):

The Disney Channel movie, StarStruck, follows Jessica Olson (Danielle Campbell) on her family trip to Los Angeles. Jessica accompanies her sister on a series of excursions to find the superstar, Christopher Wilde (Sterling Knight). The seemingly ridiculous attempts to find her sister's crush takes an unexpected turn when Jessica meets Christopher and learns there is so much more to the superstar than what meets the eye.

As I told you, it's a Disney movie.

AAAAANNNYWHO.

PROS AND CONS

PROS:

It is reeeally funny. Jessica is so sarcastic (like somebody else I know, *coughcough*), and Christopher and hers (is that even proper grammar?) banter is really funny.

It's pretty fast paced, so it doesn't drag a lot.

THE PARTS WHERE JESSICA GETS HIT WITH THE DOOR. I'LL LET THE GIFS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

Jessica's facial expressions are ridiculous.

THE MUSIC. Yes, Christopher is a singer, so obviously there have to be some songs. HERO. FINISH READING THIS AND THEN GO LISTEN TO IT. ACTUALLY. I'LL JUST PUT IT AT THE END OF THIS POST.

*hem* Sorry for that outbreak :P

I really can't think of anything else to say.....

CONS:

It's a Disney movie, it has a few "Cheesy" moments that make you roll your eyes and say, "Seriously Disney? How stereotypical of you Disney!"

Oh. THIS IS THE BIGGEST CON. (get ready for angry screaming) *SPOILER ALERT* CHRISTOPHER AND JESSICA WERE ABOUT TO KISS TWICE BUT YOU INTERRUPTED THEM TWICE!!!!! YOU HAVE THE HERO AND HEROINES KISS IN OTHER MOVIES BUT NOT THIS ONE????? WHAT????? *END OF SPOILER*

But that is basically all the cons.

CONTENT

As said before (three times) it's a Disney movie. "But Disney has been getting cuckoo lately Ceci" you may be saying. Yes. Yes, it has. But let me rephrase myself. It's a Disney movie made in 2010. That's when Disney Movies were still fairly enjoyable.

Back to the point here. It's clean (obviously). But it does have two scenes where Christopher goes to a night club called Under 21. The first time to "hang out" {nothing happens in that scene except that paparazzi come) and the second time to sing for Alexis Bender's birthday party. And that's all they show about the night club so yeah...

QUOTES (in chronological order) (sorta)

"Jessica: You don't even know him!

Sara: I know everything about him! I'm a member of his original fan club!"

(there is more to this quote and I didn't exactly quote it right)

"Stubby: We should be chilling at that party your parents are hosting

Isn't it adorable how he calls her Jess?!

Christopher: Yeah, I just can't get her out of my head

Stubby: Yeah, me neither. I mean, she cacked all over my shoes."

OVERALL FAVORITE CHARACTER

Jessica Olsen

She is really strong and determined to work hard. She also has no problem telling people that they are wrong when they are.

But I still love Christopher <3 And I just have to include this gif
